![]() ![]() My favorite character who was kidnapped wasn’t even in half of the book, which was very depressing. ![]() However, there was so much slowness to this book I thought it would never get to where it was going. Was Irene a strong female protagonist, yes she was, did she do things that made me want to smack her, of course. I think with my high expectations from the Invisible Library that the Masked City fell into the second book slump category. ![]() Here Irene will be forced to blackmail, fast talk, and fight. Irene’s mission to save Kai and avert Armageddon will take her to a dark, alternate Venice where it’s always Carnival. With this act of aggression, the fae are determined to trigger a war between their people – and the forces of order and chaos themselves. Kai’s dragon heritage means he has powerful allies, but also powerful enemies in the form of the fae. She discovers he’s been kidnapped by the fae faction and the repercussions could be fatal. Librarian-spy Irene is working undercover in an alternative London when her assistant Kai goes missing. ![]()
